Garden City High School, home of International Thespian Troupe 2846 has been invited to present their production of Hamlet directed by Barbara Hilt, at the nation’s leading high school theatre festival. Eight schools have been invited based on productions that were adjudicated last fall; three more will be invited this spring.

Last fall, GCHS had their production of William Shakespeare’s Hamlet adjudicated to perform at the International Thespian Festival as a Main Stage Production.  This weekend at the Kansas State Thespian Festival, they received the news that Hamlet has been selected as one of the total of 11 productions nationwide that will receive the honor of performing on the Main Stage at the International Thespian Festival.  Eight shows were announced on January 4th by the Educational Theatre Association.  This is a very prestigious honor for International Thespian Troupe #2846, and the largest honor the Garden City Theatre program has received.  The GCHS Drama program will be highlighted and seen by students, teachers, colleges, and theatre professionals from around the country and the world at the festival.

The GCHS Drama program is currently selling Hamlet merchandize to help fund the trip to Nationals.   GCHS Drama is selling special nationals stickers, t-shirts (short and long sleeve), hoodies, and sweatshirts.  Stickers will be $3 each or 2 for $5, short sleeve shirts are $12, long sleeve are $15, sweatshirts are $25, and hoodies are $30.  The logo is attached and is on a yellow shirt. We are also looking for businesses to sponsor the trip if your business donates $100 your logo will appear on the back of this shirt, if your business donates $25 we will list your business’ name. GCHS Drama will post more information on how you can support the drama program and their national’s trip on their social media accounts: (Facebook) Garden City High School Drama, (twitter) GCHS DRAMA #2846, and (Instagram) gchsdramadepartment.
